The word “Cadubanne” is used in Sardinian Language to describe the beginning of the agricultural year: in fact, in September the grape harvest take place and work in the fields starts anew. A month made of changing, darkening landscapes, of silvery and light rains, of fewer light: a month of transition and change. Since eleven year, September hosts one of the most important poetry festivals in Sardinia, Cabudanne de Sos Poetas, taking place from the 3rd to the 6th of September in Seneghe, an ancient and romantic village sitting at the base of the Montiferru mountain, about 100 kilometers far from Cagliari (planning to go there? discover the hotel Antica Dimora del Gruccione).
The 4-day festival spreads its traditional hangouts, verses and atmospheres all around the village, between stone-made houses and old oil mills, in the main village plazas. Each day, it runs from 10 in the morning until midnight, showcasing the best of both Italian and International poetry. This year, in order to celebrate the XI edition of the festival, visitors will be offered a wide programme of workshops, debates, live music and theatre and cinema labs, with the presence of major artists, such as poetess and performer Antonella Bukovaz, Franco Buffoni and Aldo Nove, just to mention some.
Among the special guests of this year’s edition, the actress Nicoletta Braschi, who acted in some of the most popular movies in Italy such as “La vita è bella” (awarded with the Oscar prize in 1999). She will perform some readings inspired by Hans Christian Handersen’s tales, on Saturday night. Cabudanne de sos poetas, attracting visitors of all ages, transforms Seneghe into a gathering place and crossroad for poets, artists and anyone curious about new things. At the same time, the event is an opportunity to discover a small, ancient treasury of Sardinia such as Seneghe, where habits, atmosphere and flavors still smell of authenticity.
