Wine with a view: Porto Cervo Wine Festival 2014

Porto Cervo Wine Festival 2014

Encouraged by the success of the previous years, the hotels of the Starwood Luxury Collection are finalizing the preparation for the sixth edition of the Porto Cervo Wine Festival, which will take place in the most chic Mediterranean destination over the weekend May 16 to 18, 2014.
Porto Cervo Wine Festival pays homage to the ancient Sardinian winemaking tradition by inviting a select number of Sardinian and Italian companies. The public is varied and numerous: from industry to international buyers from apprentices sommelier to wine lovers from all over Europe (also because of the entry cost of € 15.00 will be entirely donated to charity).
The three day program alternates between tasting the best local and national labels, meetings with journalists and bloggers, gourmet dinners, book signings and the unmissable Fashion Wine Walk, the walk that combines the excellent wines and prestigious fashion brands. For the Fashion Wine Walk, big news in 2013, the Festival moves from the Cervo Conference Center to the renowned Piazzetta of Porto Cervo.
Not to be missed are also the meeting with the Italian and European champion sommelier, Luca Gardini, and the debate with Oscar Farinetti, the inventor of Eataly and ambassador for the quality and uniqueness of Made in Italy foods.

Wine is of course the topic of the books that will be presented in the manicured gardens of the Cervo Conference Center. Excitedly awaited, is the presentation of the first Italian wine novel: red wine with a 12 inch heel, published by Cairo Editions and written by sommelier Adua Villa, known by the italian odience for her participation in the TV show “La Prova del Cuoco”. The final round of the three days will be "Sommelier but not too much," the introduction to a special interactive guided tour to get to know (or recognize) wine in 7 days.
Porto Cervo Wine Festival is not only the largest wine event in Sardinia, but also the highly anticipated event that’s kicks off the summer season on the Costa Smeralda. An event much more intimate and discreet compared to the glittering gala dinners in July and August, which offers the opportunity to discover an even more elitist and exclusive Costa Smeralda.

For a weekend on the Costa Smeralda full of wine and relax, we recommend the luxury Hotel Colonna Pevero and the boutique hotel Petra Segreta Resort & Spa.
